Welcome to the third episode of Cover Combat!
Yes, I did, I made a button! It was part of my to-do list in the Blogathon Bash and that was one of the tasks I actually did get done! So proud! Unless... what do you think? Does it look like a good enough button (banner)?
Now first, let's tally the scores from last week. We had a lot more votes that I expected, I'm so glad you guys are liking the meme:
It was a pretty close call between the US and UK covers this week. The German cover was described as "gorgeous", "magical" and "elegant", but faced with a choice, readers stuck with the US or UK covers. The only one really unliked was the Spanish cover - it was called "plain", "unappealing" and even "amateurish", To some, the UK cover was "too busy", but to others, the "colors stand out". The standard US cover won this week with comments like "pretty", "survivalist", "professional", and "visually attractive".
The US cover is crowned the Dominator of the Week!
What do you think? Is that the one you voted for?
By the way, even though voting's closed, the giveaway doesn't end until Saturday, so if you haven't already, get over there and enter!
We've done two big-publisher dystopians, so I thought I'd mix it up today with a light-hearted fantasy indie - Clockwise!
This cover is obviously a lot more professional that the original. A talented cover artist must have drawn this cover, with the gorgeous blue and the pretty girl. But really, how many covers have you seen just in the past week trying to sell the book through a pretty girl? Would this cover stay with you for a month?
Don't trust my opinions! Follow your gut and vote for the best cover below!
I told you there'd be some fun, light fantasy this week!
To enter the giveaway for an ebook copy of Clockwise, tell me which cover you picked in the comments! Why do you like that one? Was it easy to decide? What do you want to see next week? And what do you think of the button I made (all by myself!)? Be sure to leave your email address!
You can tweet about this new weekly meme or the giveaway for an extra entry to the giveaway!
Update on the giveaway: Elle tells me Clockwise is available free on Amazon (what are you waiting for, get your copy now!), so she was nice enough to offer a copy of Clockwiser (the sequel) to the winner. So now the winner can read TWO books. *Virtual high five*
Authors: If you have a book with two or more unique covers and want it featured or even want to contribute to the giveaway, please email me. I mean it!

Don't lie, you judge books by their covers. We all do. It's a fact -
when a cover is pretty, it registers as "interesting" in your brain and
you're more likely to buy it (theory not tested yet). We are proud of
our books with the gorgeous covers, a lot of can even recognize books
just by their covers. But have you ever seen an international cover for
the Hunger Games? Of Twilight? No?
Cover Combat lets YOU decide which cover is worthy of the titles "Dominator of the Week" and "Dazzler of the Month". And YOU'RE the judge! You're presented with up to four covers of the same book, some info about them (not enough to bore you) and then YOU, my readers, vote on the best cover. There will sometimes be a giveaway of the book being judged. Sound fun?

US Cover

The US cover is crowned the Dominator of the Week!
What do you think? Is that the one you voted for?

Original cover
I thought the original cover was much more unique that this new one - how many quality books do you read with animated-type covers on the front? I felt like the simplicity of this cover, no fancy stuff, made it more memorable. Then again, if I was browsing through a bookstore, it might not compare to the more colorful colors around it.
Remade Cover

Don't trust my opinions! Follow your gut and vote for the best cover below!
Casey Donovan has
issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And
now this—she’s accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the
school, back in time. Awkward.
Protocol pressures her to tell their 1860 hosts that he is her brother and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy (and unwanted) suitor, something changes in Nate. Are those romantic sparks or is it just “brotherly” protectiveness?
When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very the top. Except this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again.
Which of course, she does.

Thanks for featuring Clockwise on your cover combat giveaway. Clockwise is already FREE on Amazon, so I'll happily give an e-book of book 2, ClockwiseR, to your winner.
PS: I love your button!
I LOVE the remake. So much more eye-catching I think.
I love the original cover! I think it is much more original and fun, although the new cover, which before today was the only one I had seen, is eye catching :)
I have this downloaded on my kindle. I'm pretty sure I bought it with the original cover. both are nice, but I am a fan of the original art.
I really enjoy these cover posts!

sweet and beautiful....
I prefer the original, I like the illustration as it has more flow and how the word Clockwise was played. The remake version, the girl seems out of place.
Sorry the above comment was mine, it just open id doesnt show my name.
I'm one who prefers the re-make=)
Just a little more intriguing!

I have to say while the original is unique I still prefer the remade one!!
Forgot to say I entered the giveaways as Natalie Cleary :)
Both covers are amazing although far different in design - still, I gotta go with the remade cover as I think it's way more *quirky* :D
Ps - You did a fantastic job on your button! <3

Can't wait to read Clockwise and Clockwiser [clever titles!] :)
I honestly like the remade cover. Browsing through amazon I actually passed this book over a few times before I stopped to read more about it. Once I went back and read the blurb I put it on my kindle. The remade cover is more eye catching for me
